Personal Bio:
M.S in Mechanical Engineering from KFUPM, Saudi Arabia. Working for the last 35 years with various MNC’s in the GCC area in Senior Management Position with a focus on Oil & Gas and Solar Energy. Have an excellent network of business contacts and good knowledge of starting business from a scratch in the region and know the legal and operational requirements.
An entrepreneur at heart, have developed various businesses in GCC and India and I am currently focusing on Solar Energy in the MENA Region.
Please describe your role at Astral Tech as well as your industry expertise.
As the Managing Director of the company, my role is to give vision to the company. With my Technical background and extensive business development experience in the region, it is my responsibility to identify opportunities in the short and medium term and then use the available resources to convert them into business deals I keep monitoring the local and regional rules and regulations for trade and VAT for different countries. We have ICV (In Country Value) in UAE and IKTVA (In Kingdom Total Value Add) in Saudi Arabia, this helps in better qualification for the products in government related projects.
How did your story in renewables begin, and in your opinion, how much has it changed since then, if at all?
I have been involved with the Solar sector for the last 15 years. The growth is phenomenal in this region. Abundant sunshine for most parts of the year, along with vast unutilized land tracts makes Solar energy a very exciting field. The Solar Sector has the support of the local governments with the focus on reducing the emission targets. COP28 in UAE in 2023 has added a lot of momentum to the growth, the renewal energy market in General and Solar in particular is a very big opportunity in the region and many more MEGA projects are planned for the future.
What are your expectations for the MENA region in terms of growth and new opportunities for Astral Tech?
MENA region is gifted with a lot of Sun light the year around, so Solar Development has a big future here. One of the main consumptions of electricity in the region is Cooling, which is a big opportunity for Solar development. We are entering a new growth phase for Solar Energy in the MENA Region. Solar energy is competitive, and the prices continue to drop further. The development of Green Hydrogen, Energy Storage and EV market has a lot of opportunity for Solar Energy applications.
