What motivated Solis to invest in the MENA's solar industry?
The MENA region holds over half of the world’s recoverable crude oil and a third of its natural gas reserves, fueling decades of prosperity. However, these finite resources are declining, underscoring the urgent need for sustainable energy alternatives. Positioned within the Sun Belt, with minimal cloudy days and high solar irradiation—up to 2500 kWh/m²/year in Saudi Arabia—the region is ideal for solar energy development.
Countries like the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Morocco, and Egypt are leading the transition with large-scale projects such as the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Solar Park, Sakaka Solar Plant, Noor-Ouarzazate Solar Complex, and Benban Solar Park. Yet, achieving renewable energy targets requires international expertise, regulatory frameworks, and grid enhancements.
Ginlong Solis, the world’s third-largest PV inverter manufacturer, is poised to empower this transformation. With cutting-edge technology and a mission to advance clean energy, Solis aims to support MENA’s renewable energy ambitions, ensuring sustainable progress.

How do you see the effects of the increasing adoption of solar energy on the MENA's economy in the coming years?
For decades, the MENA region has relied on oil as a primary economic driver. However, with oil trends showing a steady decline, this poses potential economic challenges for the region.
Clean energy adoption is rapidly gaining momentum, promising transformative effects on energy costs and sustainability. According to the International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA), the UAE’s renewable energy sector created over 19,000 jobs in 2019, with projections for significant growth as solar energy investments increase.
The MENA region is set to reach 40 GW of solar capacity this year, with ambitious plans to achieve 180 GW by 2030. In 2022, the Middle East recorded the second-fastest growth in renewable energy capacity globally, with groundbreaking solar bids positioning the region as a global leader in solar energy adoption.
This transition in coming years would bring immense benefits: economic diversification, reduced carbon emissions, climate change mitigation, job creation, and the emergence of solar entrepreneurs, marking a new era of sustainable growth and innovation for MENA.
