LONGi’s Bold Investment: Energizing the Egyptian Market in 2024

LONGi, the world leader in PV and cell manufacturing, and Maryzad, the foremost distributor of solar solutions in Egypt, collaborated to host a workshop on December 9th, 2023, to discuss the latest advancements in PV technology and market updates for their Egyptian customers. During this event, Maryzad revealed their recent achievement: a logistics center with a total investment of 40 million EGP.

In the training session for solar industry professionals, Amro Beibars, Chairman of Maryzad, and Baggio Teng, General Manager of LONGi MENA, announced that the center would serve Egypt and neighboring countries such as Sudan, Saudi Arabia, Lebanon, and Libya in the future. This strategic move aims to secure a stable supply of solar energy materials for customers and shield them from price fluctuations.

Looking ahead to 2024, Maryzad’s Chairman expressed the company’s intention to expand its presence in Egypt, the primary market, and explore opportunities in nearby Arab countries. The plan involves forming strong partnerships, increasing the customer base, and enhancing the company’s framework to advance its business and promote reliance on clean, renewable energy.

In collaboration with LONGi, Maryzad plans to introduce new products to the Egyptian market in 2024, featuring a competitive pricing policy that anticipates currency stability in the upcoming period.

Baggio Teng, LONGi’s General Manager, declared the company’s strong investment plans in the Egyptian market, citing the country’s significant status and strategic location. During the training, he highlighted challenges facing the regional solar energy sector, such as currency price fluctuations and increased foreign supply impacting product prices.

Baggio emphasized that the exchange of local currencies between BRICS countries would encourage Chinese investors and others to strengthen their presence in the Egyptian market. LONGi, as a major module manufacturing company worldwide, aims to contribute to boosting Egypt’s GDP while attracting foreign investment.

In pursuit of sustainable cooperation, Baggio announced the launch of the “LONGi Academy” in the Middle East, specifically in Dubai, with plans to extend it to Egypt. This academy will provide free training sessions for LONGi’s customers, educating them on photovoltaic cells, module components, maintenance, and logistical matters through both offline and online training.

Mohamed Zaki, Marketing Manager at Maryzad, outlined the company’s continuous efforts to increase its customer base, considering them as success partners. He highlighted the growth of Maryzad’s distributors to over 20 nationwide by the end of 2023, reaching approximately 400 companies, including resellers and installers in the solar energy field. Despite regional conflicts, Maryzad aims to supply major PV projects in Egypt and foreign markets.

Looking ahead, Egypt aims to increase the percentage of energy produced from renewable sources in the electricity industry to 42% by 2030, aiming for a reduction in carbon emissions to 80 million tons of CO2 from the current 70 million tons.
