Jeremy Crane

As the Chief Executive Officer of Yellow Door Energy, Jeremy is leading the expansion of the distributed solar industry in the MENA region. He co-founded Yellow Door Energy with Adenium, where he previously acted as COO and helped build the region’s most successful renewable energy investor, deploying over $250 million in solar. Most recently,

Jeremy and his team raised $65 million in Series A financing from global investors such as IFC, Mitsui, Equinor, APICORP and Adenium.

Jeremy founded his first solar venture in Canada developing and financing $40 million of rooftop solar projects. He has also run a power utility and a phone company in Honduras, built wind farms in the USA, and worked as a strategy consultant at Bain & Company.

Jeremy holds a Bachelor of Applied Science in Mechanical Engineering from University of Waterloo in Canada and an MBA from INSEAD in France.

Francesco La Camera
Director-General, International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA)

Francesco La Camera is an Italian civil servant, academic, diplomat who was elected the second Director-General of the International Renewable Energy Agency, and assumed office on 4 April 2019. At the IRENA, he has a four-year tenure, after succeeding Adnan Z. Amin of Kenya, who served in a two-term tenure from 2011 to 2019 and has been given the honorary title of Director-General Emeritus. La Camera's election took place in the context of the Ninth Session of the annual Assembly of the International Renewable Energy Agency in Abu Dhabi. La Camera was previously the Director-General for Sustainable Development, Energy and Climate at the Italian Ministry of Environment, Land and Sea, where he was involved in international cooperation and partnerships agreements globally, especially in Small Island Developing States.

Laurent Longuet

Laurent spent 15 years working in the development and construction of international energy projects in Europe, Iran, Indonesia and Middle East for the Group Total. Laurent moved to the renewable energy sector in 2010 to lead, within the frame of a JV with MASDAR, the construction of Shams 1, the first concentrated solar energy power plant in the Middle East and the largest worldwide at the time of its commissioning.

After 3 years developing the activities of SunPower in the Middle East – closing significant deals in Morocco and Qatar, developing a very large solar project in Egypt, Laurent joined Akuo Energy during summer 2015.

He is based in Dubai and has been leading the development, the EPC activities and operations of AKUO Group in the MENA region before being appointed as CEO of SirajPower – leading company in solar rooftop solutions in Dubai.

Laurent holds a BS of Ecole Normale Supérieure (Paris / France) and a MS of Paris Tech (Paris / France – Ecole Nationale Supérieure de Techniques Avancées).

Sebastien Arbola

Sébastien Arbola is the CEO of the Middle East, South and Central Asia and Turkey region for global energy leader ENGIE. He leads ENGIE’s operations and growth across the region, ranging from large scale power generation and water desalination to gas retail & distribution. Prior to that, he was the CFO and Senior Vice President of the company’s

Asian environmental operations as M&A Group Director. He has held roles of increasing seniority in Finance and Management over his 11-year tenure with ENGIE.

He is a graduate of the Ecole Supérieure de Commerce de Paris.

Hailing from Chennai, India, SNS commenced his professional journey with L&T in 1984 as a project planning engineer armed with a degree in civil engineering and a post-graduation in business management. Mentored by stalwarts, he took on roles of increasing responsibility across business verticals. With an entrepreneurial mindset, drive, and foresight, he began to rewrite the rules of the game. He led L&T’s foray into the realm of executing developmental projects starting with the extremely successful HITEC City project in Hyderabad and the Bangalore International Airport, forging deals in the process without precedent in the construction space. Successfully setting up the Ready Mix business in India for the first time, bagging mandates to design & build all major international airports in India, venturing into untapped geographies like the Middle East, Africa & ASEAN to establish L&T’s credentials and presence and building long-term relationships came easy to him.

Dr. Shawn Qu

Dr. Shawn (Xiaohua) Qu has served as Chairman, President and Chief Executive Officer since founding Canadian Solar in October 2001. Prior to joining Canadian Solar, Dr. Qu worked at Automation Tooling Systems (ATS) Inc. from 1998 to 2001, where he performed various duties at both ATS and at its subsidiaries in the solar power business, Matrix and Photowatt International S.A.. He acted as a Research Scientist, Director of Silicon Procurement, Director of Solar Products, Strategic Planning and Business Development, and Technical Vice President (Asia Pacific) of Photowatt International S.A. From 1996 to 1998, Dr. Qu was a research scientist at Ontario Power Generation Corp. (formerly Ontario Hydro), where he worked as a process leader in the development of Sphere Solar™ technology, a next-generation solar technology. Prior to joining Ontario Hydro, Dr. Qu was a post-doctorate research fellow at the University of Toronto focusing on semiconductor optical devices and solar cells. He has published research articles in academic journals such as IEEE Quantum Electronics, Applied Physics Letters and Physical Review. Dr. Qu received a Ph.D. degree in material science from the University of Toronto in 1995, a M.Sc. degree in physics from University of Manitoba in 1990 and a B.Sc. in applied physics from Tsinghua University (Beijing, China) in 1986.

Driss is a seasoned project development professional with a multi-billion dollar renewable & green hydrogen project track record across Middle East & Africa. Driss has been involved in the development and closing of a portfolio of over 7 GW of renewable projects totaling over 15bn USD of capital investments, across the technology spectrum of concentrated solar, solar PV, wind, energy storage and green hydrogen projects. As a deputy to the Green Hydrogen Business Development Unit of ACWA Power, Driss is responsible for the execution of green hydrogen project development across the various geographies where ACWA Power operates.  While originating the green hydrogen business within ACWA Power, Driss has been leading  the NEOM Green Hydrogen project since its inception, acting since then as the Commercial Director for the joint venture.

Driss is a dual graduate from Ecole Polytechnique, Palaiseau, France and the Royal Institute of Technology (KTH), Stockholm Sweden.

Hanna Zaghloul

Hanna Zaghloul is the Chief Executive Officer at Kawar Energy (an eco-friendly project development company focusing on renewable energy and sustainability) since 2008.

At Kawar Energy, Zaghloul directly leads several projects in renewable energy including the development of utility scale public and private projects such as ’Shams Ma’an’ a 52.5-megawatt photovoltaic (solar energy) project at the southern part of Jordan, and Shams El Etisalat, Orange, 37 MW solar farms.

Zaghloul is particularly interested and developing ’Shamsi’, a community-scale distributed renewable energy projects enticing households and businesses to become clean-energy producers, while also making use of smart-grid technologies, storage solutions and services for energy efficiency and management, Shamsi would demonstrate the true convergence of Information, Communications, and Energy Technologies, ICET, taking advantage and enabling building Virtual Power Plants and Virtual Transmission lines, hence moving Jordan into the second level of its energy transition.

Francois Dao

Francois Dao has been working in Middle East for the last 20 years in the utilities sector with large international groups like Suez, Acciona and Schneider Electric.

Francois is today in charge of the business development and assets management of EDF Renewables portfolio in Middle East and Africa with teams in UAE, Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Morocco and South Africa.

Has achieved over 4,000 MW of renewable assets in MEA region, including Al Dhafra solar PV park (2,000 MW) the biggest single-site solar farm in the world in UAE and the largest wind farm in the Middle East – Dumat Al Jandal (400 MW) in KSA.

He has been instrumental in ramping up a large portfolio of green hydrogen throughout MENA region, as illustrated by the recent signature of the MoU for green H2 plant powered by over 600MW wind and solar farms in Egypt. Under his leadership, 4,000 MW of renewable assets have been built in MEA region. EDF Renewables secured a portfolio of 3GW of renewable plants in the GCC region.

Ltd. from 2003 to 2004, where his responsibilities included overseeing and optimizing day-to-day operations. From 2005 to 2006, he was the chief operations supervisor of ReneSola Ltd.

Charles Bai

Charles Bai has been the President of Jinko Power International since 2015. He’s also responsible for Jinko Group’s global solar IPP business. He spear-headed and built Jinko’s international solar IPP asset portfolio that has positioned Jinko as a highly competitive and recognized brand in the industry. Having been in solar industry over 14 years, Charles as an industry veteran has taken important roles in global solar companies. Prior to working at Jinko, he was the founding CFO of ReneSola, a NYSE-listed solar company, and later was Senior Vice President in charge of global solar IPP business at Canadian Solar. Charles was an energy banker at a number of global investment banks prior to his corporate life. He has raised over US$4 bn of equity via capital markets, transacted M& over US$500 mn, and raised over US$6 bn of non-recourse project finance debt in multiple jurisdictions.

Mohamed Jameel Al Ramahi

Under Mr, Al Ramahi’s leadership, Masdar has developed into one of the fastest-growing renewable energy companies in the world, with a combined global project portfolio of over 20GW of clean energy capacity and investments valued at over US $30 billion. Mr. Al Ramahi joined Masdar in 2008 and has held senior leadership positions in the company for nearly a decade and a half, serving as Chief Financial Officer and Chief Operating Officer prior to his appointment as CEO in 2016.

In addition to his role as CEO, Mr. Al Ramahi holds a number of prominent board positions. He is Chairman of the Masdar Investment Committee, Vice-Chair of the Global Council on Sustainable Development Goals, and serves on the Board of Directors for Mubadala Health, Emirates Waste to Energy Company, the Catalyst, and Shuaa Energy 2 PSC, the company that developed phase 3 of the Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Solar Park in Dubai.

Mr. Al Ramahi holds a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration (Finance) from the University of Evansville in the United States.
