Jeddah, Saudi Arabia – Sunday the 30th of November 2025 –, GSK, a focused biopharma company, with expertise in developing innovative speciality medicines and vaccines, and Haala Energy, the leading commercial and industrial solar installer in the Kingdom, have officially inaugurated a 632-kilowatt peak rooftop and ground mount solar project at GSK’s Jeddah plant with a ribbon-cutting ceremony. The event celebrated the successful completion of the project and highlighted the private sector’s role in supporting the Kingdom’s ambitious climate goals outlined in Vision 2030.
The Solar Photovoltaic system, installed across approximately 4,800 square meters, has a capacity of 632 kWp. It is expected to generate 1,130 MWh of clean energy annually, reducing the facility’s carbon footprint by 635 tons of CO₂e per year and covering approximately 28% of its electricity consumption. This project reflects GSK’s commitment to advancing its sustainability ambition while also contributing to national renewable energy goals.

The project has secured approvals from the Saudi Electricity Company (SEC) under the Regulatory Framework for Small-Scale Solar PV Systems, and GSK has recently signed a connection agreement with the SEC.
Farrukh Rehan, VP & General Manager, Saudi Arabia at GSK, stated:
“Partnership is the engine of progress. Together with Haala Energy, we’ve delivered a project that is good for the climate, good for industry, and good for the communities we serve.”
