Financing secured for 100 MW solar project in Jordan

Financing has been secured for the construction of a 100-MW solar plant in Jordan that will supply clean electricity to 63 industrial companies across the kingdom, the chairman of the Jordan and Amman Chambers of Industry has announced.

The project is being spearheaded by Al-Shams Company, which was set up under the umbrella of the Chamber to implement the initiative, Fathi Al-Jaghbier said last week.

A contract has been signed with an unnamed Jordanian industrial company to execute the works, marking the move into the implementation phase following the completion of all procedural and financial requirements.

Al-Jaghbier described the scheme as the first of its kind in Jordan in terms of its structure, as it brings multiple industrial companies together under a single renewable energy project. He said this reflects an advanced level of institutional coordination and collaboration within the industrial sector.

He added that the project’s success would represent a strategic milestone, opening the door to similar initiatives that could strengthen the sector’s sustainability, reduce dependence on conventional energy sources and bolster the competitiveness of Jordanian industry both regionally and internationally, while supporting the national economy.
