Karm Holding Partners with LONGi to Power First International Expansion in Cyprus with Hi-MO X10 Technology

Cairo/Nicosia – LONGi, the world’s leading solar technology company, has announced its partnership with Karm Holding, the Egyptian renewable energy and sustainable infrastructure group (formerly KarmSolar), to supply the flagship 7.6 MW solar PV plant in Monagroulli, Cyprus. The project marks Karm Holding’s first international expansion through its subsidiary, KarmCyprus, and will be powered by LONGi’s cutting-edge Hi-MO X10 modules.

The Monagroulli plant is a significant milestone in the Mediterranean energy landscape, representing a successful transfer of Egyptian engineering expertise to the European market. Backed by €5 million in financing from Eurobank and €10 million in total equity investment, the plant is scheduled to be operational by September 2026.

Innovation in the Mediterranean

Karm Holding’s entry into Cyprus leverages the technical superiority of LONGi’s BC (Back Contact) technology to navigate the island’s specific environmental and regulatory requirements. The Hi-MO X10 module from LONGi was selected for its industry-leading efficiency and durability, ensuring maximum energy yield and a lower Levelized Cost of Electricity (LCOE) for the project.

This partnership marks a defining step in Karm Holding’s journey from an Egyptian solar pioneer to a regional clean-energy and infrastructure group,” said Ahmed Zahran, CEO of Karm Holding. ” Cyprus is the first of several international markets we are entering in the future, and LONGi’s technology gives us the reliability and efficiency we need to deliver on that ambition.”

Fares Afifiy, LONGi Sales Manager for MEA, commented:
“At LONGi, we are proud to partner with KarmSolar on their first international project in Cyprus, powered by our cutting-edge Hi-MO X10 technology. This collaboration highlights the superior performance of our HPBC 2.0 technology, specifically designed to maximize energy yield and reliability in the Mediterranean climate. We are committed to supporting visionary partners like KarmSolar as they expand their footprint and accelerate the transition to sustainable energy across the region.”

Technical Excellence: The Hi-MO X10 Advantage

The Monagroulli project will feature the Hi-MO X10, a module specifically engineered for high reliability and aesthetic integration. Key technical highlights include:

  • HPBC 2.0 Technology: The modules utilize LONGi’s advanced High-Efficiency Back Contact (HPBC) cell technology, which eliminates front-side busbar shading to achieve superior conversion efficiency.
  • Guardian Design: Specifically optimized for light-load and distributed scenarios, the “Guardian” framing ensures robust structural integrity while maintaining a lightweight profile, simplifying installation in diverse terrains.
  • Superior Temperature Coefficient: The X10 series maintains high output even in high-temperature environments, making it ideal for the Cypriot climate.
  • Enhanced Reliability: The zero-busbar design reduces the risk of micro-cracks and improves the module’s long-term degradation profile, backed by LONGi’s comprehensive power warranty.

By utilizing these high-performance modules, Karm Holding aims to accelerate the liberalization of the Cypriot energy market and contribute significantly to the EU’s 2030 sustainability goals. The Monagroulli plant builds on Karm’s engineering track record across off-grid and hybrid solar systems in Egypt, and lays the groundwork for further expansion into additional international markets expected to be announced.
